CARBON STEEL WELD FITTINGS

Ensure Material Compatibility

Our carbon steel weld fittings are manufactured from high-grade material (A/SA234 WPB) that meets or exceeds ASTM, ASME, and ANSI specifications.

Carbon steel weld fittings are a great choice for many applications that do not involve harsh chemicals or abrasive mixtures. This is because many applications such as water and oil processes will use carbon steel piping.

Using the proper carbon steel weld fittings will help ensure material compatibility, reduce the risk of corrosion, and extend the life of equipment, and reduce the total lifecycle cost of your fluid processes.

Classifications

Carbon steel is typically classified into three main categories, based on the amount of carbon it contains:

  • Low (0.05% – 0.30%)
  • Medium (0.31% – 0.80%) – Stronger than low carbon steel, can be used for large parts (such as automotive components)
  • High (0.81% – 2.1%) – Stronger than medium carbon steel, can be used for smaller parts (such as springs)

What is Carbon Steel?

Carbon steel is one of the most common materials used for piping, due to its overall strength, ease to manufacture, and low-cost relative to other materials.

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), steel is classified as Carbon Steel when it contains up to 2.1% carbon – which is the alloying material.
