What is Forged Steel?
Forged steel is a type of alloy made from carbon and iron – but unlike typical cast steel, forged steel is compressed under very high pressures – which increases the strength of the material and reduces issues that appear in cast steel – such as shrinkage, cavities, and porosity.
Compressing the steel will deform the grains so that they are more compact, which is the primary source of strength for this type of steel. This compression also reduces the size or eliminates impurities in the fitting.
