CARBON STEEL LONG WELD NECKS

Reduce the Risk of Corrosion

Carbon steel long weld necks are a great choice for many applications that do not involve harsh chemicals or abrasive mixtures. This is because many applications such as water and oil processes will use carbon steel piping.

Using the proper carbon steel long weld necks will help ensure material compatibility, reduce the risk of corrosion, and extend the life of equipment, and reduce the total lifecycle cost of your fluid processes.

Our carbon steel long weld necks are manufactured from high-grade material that meets or exceeds ASTM, ASME, and ANSI specifications.

Classifications

Carbon steel is typically classified into three main categories, based on the amount of carbon it contains:

  • Low (0.05% – 0.30%)
  • Medium (0.31% – 0.80%) – Stronger than low carbon steel, can be used for large parts (such as automotive components)
  • High (0.81% – 2.1%) – Stronger than medium carbon steel, can be used for smaller parts (such as springs)

What is Carbon Steel?

Carbon steel is one of the most common materials used for piping, due to its overall strength, ease to manufacture, and low-cost relative to other materials.

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), steel is classified as Carbon Steel when it contains up to 2.1% carbon – which is the alloying material.
